How investing in a mangrove plantation offsets your carbon footprint (and does much more)
Blue Mangrove Fund allows individuals to offset their carbon emissions that they can’t reduce further. To offset the 9 tons of yearly CO2 emissions per person on average, a surface of 0.375 hectare of mangroves forest is needed: it will absorb an equivalent amount of CO2 from the atmosphere. The reforestation of this surface costs 3.750 EUR. This amount will therefore offset one person CO2 equivalent emissions, as long as the forest is in the growth phase, i.e. about 20 years. The donation through Fondation Roi Baudoin is tax deductible.
Each donation will allow us to restore a piece of land where mangrove trees will be planted. You will know exactly where. By restoring destroyed land to its original state, you also allow the creation of solid long-term livelihoods for local populations, while using one of nature’s best ways to mitigate climate change. Mangroves are also very efficient for climate adaptation as they protect people, housings and agriculture against land erosion, floods and soil salinization.

The Blue Mangrove Fund
Blue Mangrove Fund aims at bringing together a group of people with a common goal: the long term restoration and protection of a mangrove forest and its ecosystem.
Managing the fund implies methodological monitoring of the work and the resources being used, careful reporting to the donors, and close collaboration with scientific experts to measure and improve results.
All the terms of the donation can be found in the data room in the finance folder.
